Re: TRD3 - how is it as a sim?

Hey J,

I think it was you who wondered about Forza or something on Xbox live. Well I think you can play online without Live.. I think you can use Xlink Kai to play online LAN games. Perhaps you want to race sometimes?

Forza is like TRD3 quite sim like, but really the only true "SIM" games
out there for consoles are probably the Nascar 2005, 2006, etc and the
F1 Championship from like 3+ years ago.

For a true "sim" you'll need to look at PC titles.

Having said that, games like WRC for the PS2, Colin McRae Rally,
Rallisport Challenge 2, Toca Race Driver 2 and 3, Forza, GT3 and GT4
and Enthusa are all great titles well worth their price and bound to
offer hours of fun.

Back to the original posters question, TRD3 is a great game, the only
question is weather or not there will be enough/any mods available to
download for the PC version to make it worthwhile over the console
version.

That of course will be tempered by that nasty Starforce DVD destructor
that I bitched about earlier in this thread.

Thinking about picking this up - just can't decide if I want to get it
as a sim for my PC, or a fun couch racer for my PS2. Cockpit view or
only bumper/hood/kite view?

No sim but its a lot of fun to play. All the different classes (rally,
monster truck, open wheel, etc) give the game a ton of variety.

GT4 has superb graphics but the AI sucks so much that it bored me
quite soon. Enthusia is the most sim-like imho, but the way you
progress turned me off. You get awared points for racing clean, but
when an AI hits you from the back you are getting the penalty points.

All in all Toca3 is has the best progress system and offers the best
value for money. Imho ;)

According to the forums there are a lot of problems with the PC
version though.
