ISO: Fix for loose spherical AC vents

I recently purchased a 99 Miata - my first. One nagging problem that's
been driving me nuts in the hot weather we're experiencing in North
Carolina is the little round AC vents that seem to have minds of their
own. You set them like you want, then they just flop down to a useless
position. Has anyone come up with a novel way to snug these up?
