I certainly have no illusions that they're giving cars away here. I did
some shopping before the Employee Pricing thing came out, so I have a
baseline. If the program applies to the car I'm interested in (the '06
Mazda 5 in this case), then I can go back and see what difference there
is between what they were willing to do a month ago and what they can do
now.

While so called sales are often times as much hype as bargain, there is
usually something to be gained even if it is less than they would have
you believe. Even if the only difference is that you have to spend less
time negotiating to get a reasonable price, that is still a gain in my
mind. Don't know about you, but if I can buy a car for $x today w/ 1/2
hr of negotiating when it would have taken 3 hrs to get it for that same
$x a month ago, I'm happy that I've just saved myself 2.5 hrs.
