I have an 89 Mustang Convertible that I replaced the hinge pins on. I
didn't have the difficulty you experience. I responded before to your
inquiry that I had used a Dremel Tool. I used the Dremel with a gringing
wheel attached to grind off the top and then a punch to tap the pin out.
Maybe yours is a different configration.

Well, I finally got the bottom half of the bottom pin out this afternoon.
I had to drill a hole through the center and then take an air hammer
w/chisel to it! Now, I can't get the top half out. Seems the bushing is
holding it tight. I've tried hammering on a small crowbar underneath it to
try to drive it up, with no success. Does anyone have any experience in
removing these pins? Books that are available, to the general public, for
bodywork? I really want to get this car restored to "better than new" and
I want to get the small things done first before I start on the major
stuff. The car is an LX hatchback model, 5-speed, electric windows (they
still work!), and inline-4 with EFI. By the way, does anyone know how many
bolts hold the passenger side fender on? This may be my next task in order
to get to the hinges, themselves. I have replacement hinges.
TIA,
