Re: There's sometimes a cop around when you need one

Trolling? Brain malfunction? Swerve into traffic?

I have, and I know many others who have, nearly squashed a cyclist who
has fallen down right in the middle of the road. Get a skinny tire stuck
in a storm drain grate or wipe out on some road debris.

How about _IS_ part of
traffic. And why would stopping at a RED SIGNAL be a problem?

Because people don't want you in front of them. If you do something
stupid and wipe out on your bike, I'd rather you did it behind me. Many
others feel the same way.

Exactly. As a motorist, I see every cyclist as a lawsuit on two wheels. When
you get near me, my priority is to overtake you (safely) and leave you
behind for the same reason than when a cop gets behind me, my priority is to
let him overtake me and leave me behind. There is simply no upside to being
around you.

So you're going to greatly endanger me by brush passing me and then
slaming on your brakes once you have passed to avoid ramming the car
already stopped at the red signal? Let me say your excuse is bull***.
You're choosing to have a hostile interaction with me on purpose for no
good reason. If you were actually concerned about something happening
you'd slow down and wait your turn in the queue, even changing into the
other lane. But you'd wait until the signal turned green and we were both
on the far side of the intersection to pass.

The kind of driving you just endorsed is nothing but bullying. A hostile
act because you think the bicyclist can or won't do anything about it. I
think it's driving like that causes the U-locks to be used for body work.
