I'm in a parking lot. Someone pulls up next to me--often it's a
giant truck or SUV or some such. He pulls riiight up to my door on
the passenger side, then opens his door very carefully and
tentatively and squeeeeeezes out as I watch and pray I don't get
dinged. Often he has to open his door right to where it's touching
mine, and use the window of my car as a balance to get out.
Meanwhile, on the other side of his vehicle, there's enough room
for the Queen Mary.

If you're turning into a parking space when there isn't
much room to get a good angle in, you end up closer
to the inside car than the outside one (because you
have to leave room on the outside for your nose to
swing around without hitting the outside car). This
is exacerbated if you have a long wheelbase.

Then you need to back up and move over a bit to be a decent distance away
from the next vehicle.

Otherwise, your vehicle is TOO BIG for the parking space and TOO BIG for
your driving ability. Park somewhere else.

I had an old guy in a Cadillac pull close to my car while I was
sitting in it,and he had TWO spots open on the other side of him,and
spaces even closer to the restaurant. He them slammed his door into my
door,squeezed out,never said a word,and went into the restaurant.
So,I went and jammed a couple of toothpicks into his door locks, and
broke them off flush.

This wouldn't do anything if he had keyless entry...

He didn't.

You should have keyed his paint too

What I did was reversable, not permanent damage.
The TPs could be tweezed out.(by a locksmith)

I can park far away from the rest of the autos in a lot,and when I
come back, there will be another auto parked next to mine.

Primate group mentality. Same reason people
drive in clumps even when traffic is light. Run
with the herd.

Having said that, I try to park near other cars if
I can, as I figure that if my car is sitting out on
its own then it's more likely to be targeted by
thieves.

Actually, thieves like to park among other cars and use them for hiding
their activities. A lone car gets too much attention, its too easy to see
what's going on with it.
