Ladies and Gentlemen (and I use those words loosely), jaybird said in
rec.autos.driving:
1. A vehicle _legally_ registered in a state where only one license plate
is required is in compliance and cannot be ticketed for not having two
plates in a state that requires two.
As I can attest having driven my Georgia registered vehicles through VA
and NY (among others) that require two plates many times.
2. A vehicle registered in a state or country that is not meeting the legal
requirements of that country or state cannot be operated in another state
unless it is in compliance with its state/country of origin. If you are
registered in Canada, but are displaying expired license plates, then you
can be ticketed in a state for that offense even though it is not registered
there..
And the difference between "displaying expired license plates," and
"driving an unregistered vehicle," is?
