You mean using them to raise revenue.

They are. Local municpalities and contractors find improperly engineered
intersections and traffic signals, monkey with the timing to make them
less safe and put up cameras to collect the money.
Speed cameras are used world wide on roads with underposted speed limits
to collect money.
If you are in favor of government power and being stolen from, you are
for cameras. If you care about traffic safety, then you are against
cameras and for proper engineering, which eliminates the need for them
from a safety point of view.
