10 gb worth of driving...

I finally got around to try to record a little of my driving using my laptop and a webcam, per Scott's suggestion. Can't say it worked great, although it was in part my 200 MMX laptop's (running XP Pro) fault which wasn't quite fast enough. The other problems were shitty sound quality and mounting the cam. I ended up using a rubber band around the passenger seat headrest to attach it which worked pretty well. The downside was that it was impossible to adjust it so that the tach and speedo was visible and still get a good view of the road. I also need to get a better mic if I'll be doing any more recordings driving with the windows down and T-tops off. On the plus side, it was cheap (free!). :-)

Here's a short clip to give you an idea (of the problems..). It's compressed using a divx codec.
