Looks like I've upset the guy most able to help.
Appears my biggest mistake was finally figuring out how to show
previous quotes when using google as a newsreader.
Kind of surprising after displaying so much ignorance of amplifier
circuits.
Hopefully at least I can deduce the meaning of "in mid air" from the
previous exchange.

If anyone can outline the steps to diagnose an intermittent fault in an
output transformer, would still be much appreciated.
