It *is* rather nicely built, however. I like the well-legended and tidy PCB. The casework is also rather well made. Whether a power amp can ever be worth that sort of money is a value judgment, but in this one at least, you can see where the money went. By the way, I don't see what the difference is between using 6 $3 chips as opposed to 12 $1 discrete transistors and a load of other passive components, with a total component cost of perhaps $25. (other than $7). I would expect an IC solution to be both more reliable and more stable.
