I am trying to resurrect an old Roland EP-10 Electronic Piano. One key was not functional, and I have traced the problem to a defective teardrop capacitor. Probably Tantalum or Mylar. The capacitor body is approximately 1/4" long and 1/8" in diameter at the middle. The bottom end, that has the two leads coming out, is colored beige or light pink. There is a black band around the middle, and the top end is brown. There is also a white dot on the side that stradles the black brown colors.
If anyone could possibly identify the value of the capacitor, so I could get a replacement, I would appreciate it very much. If I can't find the value, or a replacement, I will move one from the bottom key circuit.
A google search found a color code chart for tear drop tantalum capacitors. I determined it was a 1.0 mfd. 35 Volt. I found a Radio Shack Catalog number 272-1434. A quick trip to the local store, and I purchased 3 of them, so I would have a couple of spares. Replacing the
defective one, got all keys functioning. All is well again.
