Wall boxes are made in a variety of sizes. Your wholesale/
construction electrical supply place should have something
in an appropriate size. Too bad they made the thing slightly
too big (too tall) to fit into a standard multi-gang electrical
box. :-(
"Close up" is very subjective and dependent on your tastes
and decorator, etc.
