Wow, thanks for the speedy and thorough reply. I've replaced the relay
switch for a car's blinkers/signals years ago but I didn't think to
correlate the two. The nice image of the relay you provided "awakened"
my memory. Unfortunately, there are two "relay-looking" components on
my stereo's mainboard ... both of which are soldered to the PCB ... no
nifty plug-ins. I'm not sure which of the two is the most likely
culprit of my problem. Both of them appear to be "sealed", with no
obvious removable cover. Perhaps if I desolder them from the board, I
will see a seam on the bottom of the module that will indicate a
construction that will permit removal of the cover and access to the
contacts for cleaning. If no such seam (and no cleaning potential)
I'll try to find replacements. Both components are branded Matsushita.
My initial Google search for these components was not too productive.
I guess I'll call a JVC authorized service center and try to get a
quote.
