CD-Rs sometimes exhibit compatibility problems due to their low
reflectivity compared to stamped CDs. Cheap and/or worn players that
are only just succeeding to play stampers are especially prone to
problems with CD-Rs.
CD-RWs are even more problem-prone than CD-Rs for much the same reason.
Addidtional information you should have supplied include make and model
of that Sony device and of the CD blanks you are using. Also, what exactly
does "will not play on a CD player" mean. Does it not spin at all? Does
it spin but never load the table of contents? Does it output garbled
and/or skipping sounds?
