Hi All.

I have a question about microphone selection for outside/streeter
interviews. On tv reports i have seen stations use handhelds such as
the EV 635A and the EV RE50, however some opt to use shotgun
microphones for the same purpose. What would be the benefit of using a
shotgun over a proper handheld for this purpose? Also what brand/model
of shotgun would be good for this purpose?

Mark,
Stick a microphone in the face of "the man on the street", and he may
freeze. The shotgun does not sound as good, but psychology is more important
with the public at large.
