Over the past few years I've been noticing a pattern. I am always
getting zapped by the microphone. This has been in a variety of clubs
and practise spaces. It also involves different amps, all less then ten
years old. Whats been the same is myself, the guitar, and perhaps the
main patch cord. A planet waves brand with a button that shorts the
circuit for muting. I've also replaced the pickups in the guitar in the
past. A bass player who plays with me never complains of shock.

It occurs as I write this I should try another cord for awhile. But I
wonder if a possible mis-wiring in the guitar would make it prone to
being a shock hazard. And better if anyone could point out what this
kind of mis-wiring would look like.

Thought I'd do a bit of an update, thanks to all that replied. Admit
mildly regret my curt reply to the one fellow.

Had my more expensive amp checked out, aside from a bum tube was fine.
Opinion of the fellow, who happened to be familiar with some of the local
places was 'mis-matched circuits'.

Still appreciate the comments, will take the electricity especially in new
places more seriously. Did change the guitar cord I was using and haven't
been shocked since my posting, though it seems to be the professional
opinion and many posters consensus that it was never the source of the
issue.
work in hundreds of unique venues a year and have only found one in the
last 20 years where the house ac was the fault
I would find a new amp tech
he is passing the buck on stuff he doesn't undrst6and
