I picked up a akai GXC-325D Tape Deck and seems to work fine, but will
stop playing - play kicks off after some random amount of time - also
reverse sometimes not work as it struggles to turn. Thinking there is
a belt slipping or a clutch kicking out.. Anyone know is this type of
problem and reason? Thanks Scott
i have a diffeent akai model but pbobably similar...mine has a sensor
that senses when the "supply" reel is turning. If it stops turning
for some number of seconds, the machine assumes the tape is at the end
and it automatically STOPS. So it sounds like something is wrong
with that sensor or it's timing circuit or a belt slipping that drives
the sensor (very likly). It's more critical when the supply reel is
full and is turning more slowly.
The glass crystal heads are great.
