Appleworks 6.2.9 opened all of the files you made available, with the following exceptions:
- Comms ASCII (I assume this is a "communications" doc, and since there is no longer a communications module in AWorks, it has "no meaning" to AWorks 6 and cannot be opened)
- Master pub 1 (when I try to open this, I get an error saying "this file could not be converted to an Appleworks document")
What was used to originally create the "Master pub" file? Is this by any chance somehow involved with the old Apple "publish and subscribe" technology? I'm not sure that is even supported any more in OS X (I never used it), and perhaps that's why it can't be opened.
When I fooled with it a bit, I tried opening it and got the following error msg:
"You cannot open edition files directly. Please subscribe to them instead."
But everything else opens right up with a double-click. And - after making changes - Appleworks will save it in either AWorks 6, 5, or 4 file formats. I was able to open the above files on my g4 running 10.3.9 and on my Intel iMac running 10.4.10.
My advice to you regarding Appleworks and the Intel iMac is to do this:
1. Get ahold of a copy of Appleworks 6. I recommend 6.2.7 if you can find it (should be available used for good prices).
2. If you have access to a NON-Intel Mac running OS X (non-Intel-based is important), install Appleworks to that Mac.
3. Download the FREE Apple updater utility and then upgrade that installation to version 6.2.9.
4. Upgrade to 6.2.9. You now have the latest, and probably LAST, version of Appleworks that will ever be available.
5. Burn yourself a few CDs of the Appleworks app (located in the Applications folder of the drive that Appleworks is installed on)
6. Take a CD to the Intel iMac and just copy it into the Applications folder on the iMac
7. Appleworks should then launch for you.
NOTE: As I mentioned previously, there are some technical glitches that are encountered when trying to install Appleworks _directly_ from an AWorks CD to an Intel iMac - or so I've heard (I did not attempt such an installation myself). There ARE "workarounds", which can probably be found through searching.
