hello, I'm trying to load my old samplitude 24\96 circa 1999 onto my laptop.
the program has an installation cd, and also a floppy that needs to be
inserted during the process. well as the laptop does not have a floppy A:
drive, I have copied the entire contents of the floppy to an SD card but no
luck. any ideas?
Unfortunately, Magix seems to encourage upgrading rather than
continuing to support users who find that their old programs are still
"good enough." I have a copy of Sequoia from about 2004 that uses a
parallel port dongle. I think I got the last laptop PC made with a
parallel port, but I doubt my next one will. The current version
(which would be a pretty expensive upgrade) uses a USB dongle.
I've never did this with Windows, but I'll bet there's a way that you
can re-assign disk drive letters so that your SD card reader looks
like Driver A. That might do the trick. I had to do that on a DOS
computer once when a program wanted to see its 3-1/2" installation
floppy in Drive A, and Drive A on that computer was a 5-1/4" floppy
drive (as it should be <g>) with the 3-1/2" floppy normally showing up
as Drive B.
