I asked this question awhile back. Didn't write down the
answer, and now I can't seem to find it in the archives.
I have a 24 track setup. I record through an analog board
into a hard disc based, adat-like machine. From there, I
usually just mix down to cd. But these days, I want to
get more into digital editing. So from the hard disc
machine, I can go into my computer with the unmixed wav.
multitracks. I need something to mix them with.
Particularly, I need to be able to replace drums with
samples.
The computer I'm using is a few years old. But not
totally slack. Not the fastest thing in the world, either.
Anyhow, being that I'm a novice and fairly poor, what
software would you suggest?
I'd like something that has all 24 tracks available.
Maybe something a few years old that won't bog my system
down? As I mentioned, drum replacement would be a big
part of my needs.
Audacity freeware - google is your friend!
