I am considering buying a Behringer U-Control UCA202 to
add an extra audio output for use with a laptop (Acer
1.6Ghz, XP-Pro) to use simultaneously with the built-in
laptop audio out, to give me two simultaneous separate
audio outputs for DJ work, using Tractor software (so
that I can listen to one track while playing another).
My question is, will adding a USB audio output require
the laptop CPU to work much harder?
Not if its a modern laptop.
There's no point in
considering this if it will reduce my computer's ability
to use the DJ software without problems, (while searching
for tracks in Itunes and Windows search).
At $29.95 street price, its not like just buying it to see how it works will
mess you up financially. ;-)
People might be interested in reading what sort of technical performance one
can expect from an under-$30 audio interface:
http://www.birotechnology.com/soundcards/html/uca202_hp-line.htm
Frequency response (from 40 Hz to 15 kHz), dB:+0.08, -0.10
Noise level, dB (A):-88.r
Dynamic range, dB (A):88.
THD, %:0.045
IMD + Noise, %:0.047
Stereo crosstalk, dB:-88.7
It wasn't that long ago that this sort of performance would set you back
close to $400.
