Are you looking for low cost studio computer solution? Check out
Ubuntu Studio. My 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon setup ROCKS!. I am also
officially off Windows. No more viruses, NTFS, and spyware problems.
I don't miss M$ at all.
I run a 3g AMD 64 processor, a Biostar MOBO, 2 Gb Ram, 250 Gb SATA, a
Delta Revolution 7.1 PCI Sound card, and a 128Mb PCI Express Graphics
interface.
This is all connected to my MIDI netowrk of sound modules, my Mackie
Anaalog Mixer with compressor limiters, my pro microphones, etc...
I get excellent quality recordings and can output in any format. I
use Audacity, Rosegarden, Ardour and other tools to produce studio
qualtiy edits.
This system can edit video but I choose to do that on a separate
Ubuntu computer due to the drive space required for video editing.
This system is designed to work with audio only.
It requires some familiarization skills to get it going but the Ubuntu
Forums will get you through the worst of problems. I suggest that you
follow a templated system such as mine to minimize problems with
drivers, etc.
Go check it out:www.ubuntustudio.org
As soon as the word "client" can be used in the same paragraph as
Linux DAW (without the word "irate"), I'll make note.
