I would have thought that playing wet was a good way of extracting all
the crap from the grooves while washing in mild detergent. Why would
this render them unplayable dry?
The Lencoclean fluid was a major contributor to that effect, once removed
there is less of an issue, but there is one and it is grave. The wet
playback keeps the contact point between cartrigde and vinyl oold. That
prevent the vinyl from flowing aside WHEN, not if, WHEN* the cartridge fails
to follow the groove. The end result is chiseling damage. Another obvious
source of chiseling damage is gravel in the groove.
This issue of vinyl giving way to the cartrige is also the reason for a rest
period between repeat plays being vitally important. Given time the vinyl
will flow back in shape if left to itself.
