Using Totalmix to setup, yes you can route any input to any output and
also to many outputs, but that's not quite what I intended. I use a
Mackie SDR as primary recording device, transfer to computer and mix.
Lately I've also used a FF400 directly to computer and used the SDR as
backup. Big bulky bitbucket. Could it be made smaller? Well a couple of
Microtracks perhaps. At least for when not to many channels needed.
Since they would be fed the same ADAT they should be synched and could
record a stereopair each. Then of course if one wanted even lighter one
could attach the Microtracks to the FF400 and let them record the same
signal in pairs (backup) or different pairs as a sort-of-4-track
recorder. I don't know yet, just toying with ideas. Perhaps Arny's link
is the answer, but it looks more than I thought.
