If the cable connector is a Neutrik, simply unscrew the back of the shell. Once it is off, you'll be able to easily pull the cable and the connector insert out of the front shell. That will remove the tension on the lock tab, and it will come out as well.
If it is an old style Switchcraft, which has two opposing set screws in the shell, unscrew them. You should then be able to pull the shell off. The lock tab is part of the connector insert and you'll have better access to it.

Sorry, these descriptions are for female cable connectors. However, once you get the inserts out, you'll have better access to the lock pin from inside the shell. You might be able to push them out with an appropriate tool.

I tried a suggestion I read on here involving shoving a paperclip under the pushtab but it hasn't worked for me yet. So I guess my only option is to open the Tannoys up and replace the connectors.
I crack open lots of things I can afford to replace, but I've never opened powered monitors before and I'm weary of doing this to my new, expensive Tannoys. If I've never done it before, should I attempt this feat, considering I can just leave the connector stuck and use the cable as is until it craps out years down the road?
