Re: Stuck XLR connector

I feel like I should be a good lock picker after all this....

I haven't had a chance to try any of the suggestions offered, but to answer
some questions in the mean time:

I've tried every combination of pushing, pulling, jiggling, angling. The
heatsink on the tannoys juts out in such a way that it's tricky to get my
fingers in all that well, and the connector is tapered in such a way that
using plyers isn't an option. I'm trying to not damage the cable incase I'm
stuck with it... intermittent shorts on a permanent cable wouldn't be fun.

I tried grabbing a long sewing needle with a pair of needle-noses (I just
realized the humor in that) and shoving it right up the middle of the top of
the connecter, under the tab. Just a little to either side and the needle
passees through unobstructed. Straight up the center though there is a
blockage and no matter how hard I push (bent two needles already) it won't
dislodge.

Yes, there IS a pushtab, but it gives little to no resistance when pushed.
It's not doing what it's supposed to.

The cable was the cheapest available at the store I went to...serves me
right I know. So if I had to name a suspect, it's the cable side of the
connector, not the tannoys. Could be both I suppose. Live and learn.

The Tannoy female jack is a mount from rear type, the screws are visible but
I'd have to open the tannoys to remove the jack.

There is a screw on the cable connector. I tried removing it, but pulling on
the jack didn't seem to have any different effect. It's been a while since
I've had an XLR apart, but I thought the screw held together the outer
shield and an inner piece containing the three XLR pins. The outer sheild is
what's stuck, so it makes sense that removing the screw wouldn't help. Or is
there something I'm missing here.

Next to try: Cold treatment, WD40 and various lubes.
