My experience with Lynx cards is they severly limit slew rate and
analog bandwidth by the use of specialized balanced input buffers
which creates a dulling effect on transients, in fact it's a pretty
severe low pass filter before the AD chip. Smooth and dull is the
reponse I got. A better way is to leave the sensitive analog and
converter sections out of the noisy computer enviroment and piss poor
switching power supplies and put them out of the box. The RME card is
sample accurate and is about as good as any AD, DA will ever get. It
also allows one to select the converters externally as I have several
I use.
As usual, quality trumps convienience.

Your observations seem to be out of line with many other observers and
test results. Your comment on slew rate is highly questionable since
distortion measurements on the card are very low. Slew rate
limitations introduce significant distortion that would be very
readily measured.
THD does measure ok, it's the dulling effect of the LPF front end that
damps transients, easy to hear when comparing to outboard converters.
Slew rate disortion or TIM is also measuring ok, but the Nyquist and
the AP's 22k filters remove much of that before measurement. If I was
able to tap the analog front end and feed the AP directly, it would
rip it a new ***.
Now, why do you think there is all this "preventative" filtering at
the front end of a lynx card? Why do you think it's not used in high
end outboard A/D designs?
Eventually one needs to shut off the test gear and give it a listen.
If one listens and compares, observation is not needed.
