you might want to ask this question at

or

Give them as much information re: the construction of your walls, what your
recording etc. as possible.

Short story: I live in a third world country and am on a small budget.
The neighbourhood here is very noisy and I am renting - so the solution
must be portable. I need to be able to substantially reduce the noise
level coming in from the glass doors and windows, but also be able to
move/remove the solutions for ventilation - like twice a day!
Long story: I know a little about sound-proofing - at least that it is
problematic and not easy to solve. I had a heck of a time creating a
temporary sound room in order to procude audio tracks for a video. I
ended up piling every single item of clothing in the house PLUS
surrounding myself with mattresses. And even then it was only 80%
effective, and only against mid-range sounds.
Anyway, there are no super-duper high-tech solutions here. All I can
rustle up is cardboard, styrofoam, and basic Chinese and Thai
materials. Bedding foam is available but is expensive here - imported.
My idea is to assemble some insulating material with rattan/bamboo
supports, kind of moveable screens. But I don't know what will be
cost-effective interior. The traditional western solution of egg
cartons will not work as they are made out of plastic here.
