Doesn't help you much though, they're discontinued :-)
Although that ad says its a 'low cost accessory', since it doesn't list the
price it retailed for, we can't really guess about what its innards consist
couldI suppose a simple switch could be made, for people who have more
money than willingness to manually switch cables, but a device like this
tonot be used while it is receiving MIDI, like a merger or splitter can due to
the use of a buffer. For example if you had a sequencer you wanted to route
generatorstwo tone generators, switching back and forth between the tone generators
receiving the midi stream, a simple switch would just crash the tone
and sequencer, most likely with hung notes blaring..
Give up, Chev. I've owned these units.
By the way, I charitably charactarized that box as being something for people
with "more money than willingness to manually swap a cable".* I now
charactarize that statement as 'charitable' because I could have just as
accurately said "more money than brains". The fact that you are admitting to
have bought a "MIDI switch" because you think that by admitting having made
such an embarassing purchase, that you are 'proving' something, is deliciously
ironic!
* That also means that I acknowledged that such boxes exist, so you might as
well 'give up' trying to browbeat me like the simpering cronymobster wannabe
you are, by pretending I haven't already acknowledged that such boxes exist.
