Re: Laptop PC. What should I look for?

I have no problem writing PC volumes with OS X.

Which format? FAT? NTFS? As I mentioned to Corey, the people I work
with can read my NTFS drives with their OSX machines, but they can't
write to them.

I think I heard somewhere that OSX can write to FAT (or is it FAT32?)
drives. I tried a really quick test by formatting my SanDisk USB key as
at FAT volume with my XP machine. The Mac spit out a "Can't read
anything from this device" message. I haven't bothered trying anything
else yet.

And there is software available that will let you write both old-
style Mac fileysstems and the newer Berkeley-style Mac filesystems
on the PC.

Right. I have MacDrive on my XP machines. But how likely is it that
the OP's clients are going to have such software?

As an interesting aside, my ability to use HFS+ drives under XP via
MacDrive has somehow become corrupted. I can still read from and write
to drives, but removing (aka "ejecting") them crashes the computer.
Apparently some change to something else, like a Windows update or a new
software installation, is upsetting MacDrive. It used to work
perfectly. If the OP's clients have a similar experience, they ain't
gonna be happy.
