Got a recording of an opera singer -- Wow...

Happened by accident -- She wasn't at the rehearsal and I didn't know
she was even on the program.

The show was mostly a sound reinforcement job and I had maxxed out the
Traveller's capacity into the FOH patch panel. (Note to self -- Time
for more field portable converters...) Regardless, with the mics we
had set up, she would've easily blown the leds off the consoles and
smoked the preamps.

For grins, I plugged in a two-track recorder of a stage submixer that
handled the overhead mics and we got her on that recorder. Figures...
Of course, that recorder isn't time synced with the FOH recorder but I
don't care, I'm just tickled to have gotten an opera singer. No
clipping and clear as ever. If anything, as she swayed to and fro,
you hear her voice moving all over the stereo field. The buddy's at
work says that's not a biggy as opera singers are known for running all
over the stage anyway.

What a fluke... :-)
