I have an RME Multiface with Cardbus cable - I'm now finally upgrading my

bit of a stretch at the moment (it's more expensive than I'd expected!)
so... if I network the laptop (2.4GHz P4-M 768MB XP Home) & the desktop
(3.2GHz dual core Intel 2GB XP Pro) via ethernet, can I use the RME cardbus
on the laptop as an interface to the newer computer with its extra
processing power & memory -
In a word, no.
or will the laptop's processor still govern the
performance? I think the laptop has 10/100 ethernet and the desktop has
gigabit. Clearly I don't know enough about networking!!
Bus attached hardware, PCI, USB, 1394, etc. cannot be shared on a
network. Only HD, CD, DVD and printer devices.
I can't even get my shared CD and DVD drives to act as such when
shared although file system based disks are cross accessable. I set
up a 1394 network between my XP laptop and SE tower which should be
fast enough. Perhaps the problem with this setup is just the SE half.
