Lorin, It's not respectful to respond to my compliment and good

There was nothing disrespectful in my reply, and the only possible
arrogance would be in assuming that what I wrote was aimed exclusively
at you. I simply asked that participants in rec.audio.pro respect it as
a place where pros can gather without being expecting to spoon-feed a
class full of newbie wannabes with a bedroom full of cheap stuff that
they don't know how to use.
remember that the next time your doctor to explain something.
I don't approach my doctor from a position of wannabe medical
practitioner. I'm the client. HUGE difference. You spell it out
yourself in the very next paragraph.
i am actually running a legitimate for profit business, have clients
and sometimes have serious questions about gear.
Given some of the things you've written here, and the level of gear
you're asking about, I hope you have a backup plan.
i cannot yet afford U47's but im working with what i have and coming
up with good recordings because i have good ears. i have learned a
lot here and sometimes have something useful or fun to add.
You *CAN* learn a lot here, but you won't ever advance beyond your
current position if the topic is constantly dragged down to discussions
of cheap, crappy entry-level equipment. If you want you can tell your
mommy that the bad audio man made you cry by telling you that people who
don't much care about $99 mics except as a curiosity used to be the
majority here, and besides, as you've stated yourself, there's more to
the craft than gear.
As for having something useful to add, you've been wrong more often than
you've been right. Go to school if you want to make a living at this.
You owe it to your clients. Ears and desire are enough to get you
started, but you hurt the credibility of the industry as whole by taking
money from people when you don't know what you're doing. When you ***
them over (and you will), ALL audio engineers become suspect in that
client's eyes. You said you knew what you were doing but you didn't.
Why would they believe the next guy?
this is usenet. form a secret society if you want one.
We didn't used to NEED one. Is that really what one has to do now?
Wanting to learn is great, but this is NOT a free audio school. It's a
discussion group, originally one for people who were serious about audio
production. The people who gather here may choose to share their
experience and knowledge, but are under absolutely ZERO obligation to do
so. Remember that before you whine again.
Also ask yourself from whom you expect to learn if all the experts get
sick of the *** and quit contributing?
i can go to the hobby boards, but all the ones i've been to are
full of flamers, OT's and vitriol. "screaming kids" indeed!
Well, now you're getting flamed here too. So which do you prefer,
having pros snicker at you without you knowing every time you post
something stupid, or discussing prosumer gear with those who actually
use it and know how it works?
