i can't get a decent recorded sound in there- it's too boxy sounding. <
This is a very common problem, and it's caused by "early" reflections from
nearby walls and other nearby reflective surfaces. It's not only the early
echoes, but also the comb filtering that results from these echoes. The
solution is adding more absorption. For the complete story see my Acoustics
