Am I missing a secret? Or will I have to re-install all of my
applications on a new disk?

Why is that a problem? I do this annually as a kind of "spring
cleaning". Gets rid of a lot of junk that collects.

Well, you're a friggin nut!!! I get rid of applications that I don't
use shortly after I install them. I have applications that I use only
every few months, but I don't really have a lot of junk. But there is a
lot of stuff.

Hi Mike,

Let me start by saying that I really respect your knowledge/expertise
in many many things and it's your advice and the advice of others in
the group that keep me coming back day after day, year after year.
However , I'm getting very frustrated with your inability to take
some simple yet hearty advice.

I am a Novell CNE, Microsoft MCSE, A+ Certified tech and have
been a tech in the industry for over 20 years. I have worked for
companies like Netscape, Novell, Gateway (to name a few) in an IT capacity
for much of that. So It kinda stings when you ask for a "real expert"
and when many poeple including myself suggested that you have
corruption and its time to re install, you drag your feet.
Take it from someone that has installed and repaired countless
machines, Its just a waste of time to troubleshoot everything.
You could have bought a new hard drive the first day and had
windows up and running in a couple hours.

Upgrade your hardware, buy a new copy of XP and re-install,
and get back to helping us with our audio problems :)

Please forgive me for my outburst.
