I am going to do some recording (PC) using the following -
Soundcraft Live 16 ch console
MAudio Delta 1010 interface
I am going to use the desk for the mic pre-amps.
The soundcraft does not gave direct ours, so I was going
to use the insert points to take the feed to the delta. I believe the
detta can take either balanced or
unbalanced inputs.
The question I have is about cabling the desk to the
delta.
I assume I use a stereo jack (TRS) at the desk and take
the tip and sleeve to a mono jack at the delta end. Is
this the correct way to go? Do I need to connect the tip
and ring at the console end to allow the signal to go
back into the desk for monitorning outputs? I assume I
configure the Delta to use unbalanced inputs.
Right, solder the tip to the ring at the console end, and call that hot.
This creates the "through" connection. Call the sleeve cold.
At the the Delta end, solder hot to the tip, and cold to the ring. At the
Delta end, for just one cable, also solder the cold to the sleeve.
