Thanks for your comments Pedrag but I think it is probably you who
should re-read Agent86's posting.
His reply did nothing to assist me in my query and he implied that I
was too stupid to think about swapping cables when I had made it quite
clear it was an audio file query, not a hardware query.

OK, I re-read his reply and agree that it wasn't exactly relevant to your
question. I still don't believe that the harshness of your reaction was
appropriate, especially your choice of words, but I can see now that you
could have been offended by his comments.

I was not after a servile reply but certainly did not expect or deserve
a flaming. Whilst I am a newbie to your group I have tried to help many
people in groups where I am not.
I would certainly not condone anyone in any group replying to a newbie
with that sort of attitude and am surprised that you are supporting
him.

I myself would have never made such comments and
I'm not supporting anything that contributes to noise. It's just that your
noise was louder than his and that's what I reacted to. Let's call it the
masking effect. It was late in the night, ear fatigue and all.

I've tried for years to stay out of conflicts here on r.a.p. and I've
certainly never called anybody names, but recently I seem to be unable to
escape getting openly insulted on a regular basis. I still don't feel like
entering into pissing matches, especially with anonymous posters, but I do
believe that a more pro-active approach in such cases is beneficial in the
long run.

Having said that, I apologise if my reply offended you but I do suggest
that you stop treating this group as your own personal domain.

Just stick around and you'll see that I have no such ambitions.

Your reply didn't offend me personally, but I appreciate your willingness to
apologize. It shows class, something that certain passers-by here are sorely
missing.
