AKG makes some excellent mikes, though. The C535 is about the same price
as the C1000, and it sounds good. At the AES show in Amsterdam, I asked
one of the AKG reps why, when they made an excellent mike like the C535,
they would then turn around and produce a horrible-sounding mike at the
same price point. The rep explained to me that the C1000 and C3000 were
"specially voiced for the American market." I don't think that's very
flattering to us Americans.
