Your particular MOBO is a little strange, in that it uses a 3rd party
IEEE1394 controller. I'm pretty sure the nForce 4 chipset is capable of
doing IEEE1394 natively. Also, It has extra SATA ports controlled from a
Silicon Image chip - don't use these extra SATA ports, they will also impact
on performance for you.

I have been building DAWs for many years, and I can tell you that
Motherboard selection is actually very important. I stay well away from
boards that have 3rd party SATA, IDE, IEEE1394 chipsets installed, because
they always connect via the PCI infrastructure.

Tell me a little more about your set-up. I assume you are using a PCIe
video card (as apposed to a PCI card)? Can you give me a full rundown of
your hardware setup? Maybe we can figure out a solution.
