A single pole doesn't exactly make for irregular room geometry. A pole
will do nothing, good or bad, at low frequencies, and even well into the
midrange. The waves will just diffract around it. As a structural
element it is most likely filled with concrete so that resonance at
typical listening levels will not be a very big issue either.
I missed the beginning - is this a control room or recording room?
Symmetry is important in a control room. However, I still wouldn't worry
too much about the pole acoustically. Put something soft on the side
that faces the speaker if it makes you feel better.
