The ideal project would just take SPDIF (or ADAT!) input and just dump
to a USB device. No meters of any sort needed for that.

It would be tempting to get this unit and hack an SPDIF input onto it.
Writing to the USB key is the tricky part, and they seem to have solved it.
There must be a digital signal in there somewhere :)
