Although I'm a vocalist and write some music I am NOT a "player'; I
cannot actually play a keyboard for example. I do nothing but SING on
stage; it's in the STUDIO where my role differs. I just bought a copy
of Cakewalk's Home Studio so I am ready to start doing something I CAN
do and that is enter notes and chords in quasi real time. Hunt and peck
if you get my drift. At first I thought that a synthesizer of any kind
was a moot point since I don't actually play; then why would I need the
quality and added expense. I figured that a relatively simple
controller would suffice. Now I'm thinking that I might not be able to
hear the notes as I'm entering them. Is there a solution to this
problem IF, indeed, there actually IS one with using a controller like
the Edirol. Will the use of a controller result in the loss on
synchronization between the track I am listening to and the track I am
laying down or is this too, a problem only of my imagination ? Any help
at all explaining what's best in such a situation would be VERY
welcome. ANY discussion at all concerning the various pros and cons of
each option would be relished. Any, and all opinions are welcome by
this uninformed newbie.
Thanks,
George
