Cheers Peter,
My graphics card is a Ati Radeon 7500 AGP with 64Mb DDR onboard Ram ... but
I agree that this would seem to be where the problem lies. I read through a
Yamaha FAQ today and it suggested that there may be PCI problems with some
graphics cards causing a log-jam in the buss.
As I've said, I've used this system for a few years now without a problem
.... then suddenly, after not doing much audio for a while, I start again and
so do the problems ...
I've downloaded the latest drivers for the graphics card and Yamaha suggest
that, after the likes of ATI became aware of some problems between graphics
and sound cards, they addressed it with driver updates. I'll install them
tomorrow and see what happens. I've also upgraded some software for the
SW1000XG ... but to no effect.
If the above and your suggestions fail then it's been suggested that it
could be a hard-drive problem ... but I don't think so as I've tried using
both of my drives as the default audio drive with the same result.
Anyway, thanks for the continued help and we'll see what tomorrow holds
after, perhaps, a lengthy call to 'Dusty' at Yamaha Tech Support.
Regards,
Colin
