Musicgiants.com claim lossless CD quality sound via WMA.

I'd use the Sonic workstation because that's what I have got sitting around the studio.
I did a web search (quickly) and most what I see are wav to mp3. I know I need to go from wma to wav and then dvd-a.
Just about anything that can handle a wma file can export as a clean 16-bit wav. Total Recorder will let you extract the output of Windows Media Player into a wav file, for instance.
This whole discussion was prompted because I want better quality than Itunes 128kbs low quality files. I want to download higher resolution music (musicgiants) and then write high quality dvd-a so I can preserve the signal. The weak link I see is the .wav conversion....
The weak link was the wma encoding in the first place. Why do you even care about DVD-A for something like this, since you're starting with such a low point to begin with? Do you need longer running time than you can get with a Red Book CD? The .wma compression is pretty awful-sounding to begin with.... I would not consider it "higher resolution" by any means. Certainly not in the same league as 16-bit uncompressed 44.1 files. --scott
