That 12x must be, unh a legacy drive as 52x burners have

This PC I'm typing on had only USB 1.1 ports, so I stuck in
a $15 USB 2.0 card. Made a big difference.
It takes about 3 minutes to copy 256 megs from my Lexar
flash drive to the hard drive. Thats only about 1.5
megabytes per second or umm 12 megabits per second. It's not
the fastest flash drive I have, but it is the one on my
keychain.

I've done that and it works. Of course I used more modern
hardware - a USB 2.0 port and flash drive, as well as a
modern CD burner with the now-common "Burn Proof"
interruption-tolerance feature.
