John, I find it very interesting that you find a quick review of
the copyright law to be "a series of convoluted excuses".

As was pointed out to you, Mr. Krueger, there is nothing to
prevent you from asking permission. My experience has been
that such permission is freely granted, for extracts or for
limited distribution purposes.
