There was a request to hear an example of me conducting.
Athttp://idisk.mac.com/jennconducts-Public
you'll be able to download the best example that I have.
It's me with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Carnegie Hall,
March 2005, Memorial concert for Frederick Fennell
Wagner: Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral from Lohengrin
5 min of rehearsal for 7 min of music. A great honor.
I know a little about what music directors do, and 5 min of rehearsal for 7
min of music isn't even a tiny fraction of what they do. It appears that the
event recorded here has about as much to do with being a musical director
("conductor"), as trying to run the Daytona 500 with a car rented from Hertz
has to do with auto racing.
5 hours with the church choir can't even get them close to being in
tune.
