Are DBTs the sole measure of 'integrity'?

They are merely one of several means to that end.

Now let us talk about the integrity of sighted
evaluations of most of the products reviewed by
high end ragazines:

zero.

OK. In what way is "integrity" an issue?

Lets start with accountability and moral
responsibiilty. The high end press seems to have no
need to have either. When challenged about their
highly questionable reviewing methodology, the usual
response is something like: That is what we do,
whether you like it or not. They say this despite the
fact that there is a considerable body of evidence
saying that they are just making it up as they go
along.

Well, it IS what they do. They listen to stuff, do
some measurements, then offer their OPINION. That's
all it is: an OPINION.

Show me a high end magazine that clearly states that in
every issue.

Ordinary people who read hobby magazines understand
that.

You can only say that if you have some kind of
statistically signficant survey to back you up.

What have you got that makes this anything but your
personal opinon?

Common sense.

So you say.

How else could any normal person construe
a review in just about any endeavor?

They could construe it to be a reliable evaluation of
the product,

Is a wine review "reliable"?

Some seem to put on that pretense.

How about an auto review?

Ditto.

So, in your view, is there any room in the marketplace for a magazine of
opinion about consumer goods?

How about the review of a movie?

What's unclear about "run right out and see this movie"?

such as
someone may find in say, Consumer's Report.

I can't find an example. Can you provide a CR review of,
say, a loudspeaker system?

No, but Consumer's report can.

Sorry, I don't care to pay for it.

It's an opinion, and that's what you expect: the
reviewer's opinion.

So you say.

Of course.

Jenn, you seem to have a hard time adjusting to a context where you are not
a world-class authority in every topic.

I have no idea WTF you're speaking of. Try not to implode; I'm simply
trying to have a discussion with you. Here, again, is the point: I
believe that most people understand that a REVIEW is an opinion about
goods, services, etc. You can choose to pay for the opinion of someone
who writes in a magazine, or you can choose not to. Either way, it is
not about "integrity" unless you can show that the reviewer is skewing
his/or review for some nefarious reason. It's an OPINION. You can take
it; you can leave it.
