Sigh.... I read groups through a newsreader, not Google.
No messages
for this group (from anyone) were showing up this morning in my
reader,
but they were showing up in Google.

Pretty sad when googlenews is an improvement.

I was tweaking a filter used for
this group, so I needed to see if messages were now showing up in
this
group on the reader, even though I knew they were showing up in
Google.
It was a group specific thing with my reader, thus alt.test was
useless.

Is copying your filters to a different group beyond your readers or
just your ability?

As I tired to explain to you, there was a glitch in the reader.

Sure...glitchy software. Did you fix it?
Those OE glitches can be tricky and are often
recurring.

I had filtered the "dentist", "MI5Victim" and
"bleachblot" (what's THAT guy about, anyway?), and all of a sudden it
started filtering everyone. I just erased the filters and entered them
again, and all seems well.

No, 2. I made a test to verify that there was a problem, made a change
in the program and tested it again to see if that fixed the problem.
